10 of the Best Towns in Tuscany

In a few previous posts we’ve covered beautiful Italian towns and regions (see Amazing Italian Coastal Towns). In this post we will show you Tuscany, another amazing Italian region, and its fairytale towns.

Tuscany is located in central Italy, north of Rome. It is well known for amazing landscapes, artistic legacy, tasty food and magnificent architecture. The capital and most famous town in Tuscany is Florence, known for its galleries, squares and many historical buildings. The other two big towns and very popular touristic destinations are Siena, famous for its historic center with Piazza del Campo, and Pisa famous for its Leaning Tower.

Apart from these 3 well known tourist destination, there are many smaller towns and villages, not as famous, but surly wort visiting. Here are some we recommend: San Gigmignano, Montepulciano, Val D’Orcia, Pienza, Pitigliano, Lucca and Volterra. These towns and villages are not crowded with flocks of tourists, so they are perfect for romantic vacations or honeymoons. Every town has something special that makes it unique from others. In all these towns you should try local food and wine, many say they are best in the world.
