Stone Mountain
Stone Mountain Park is located outside of the city of Atlanta but it is one of the most popular attractions in the area. The park is named for the huge mound of granite that is the centerpiece of the park. The stone includes a well-known carving of military leaders of the Confederacy. The Summit Skyride will take you to the top of the mountain where you can walk around and enjoy fabulous views of the Atlanta skyline. The park also includes a number of other rides and attractions (open seasonally) including a scenic railroad and the Antebellum Plantation.
Atlanta Botanical Garden
The Altanta Botanical Garden is located in midtown Atlanta, near Piedmont Park. It includes 30 acres of garden exhibits, with a the 600 foot long Kendeda Canopy Walk, where you can view from the treetops.
Underground Atlanta
Located in downtown Atlanta, Underground Atlanta is a unique experience that includes several blocks of shops, restaurants, and clubs located below the streets.
Centennial Olympic Park
Atlanta hosted the Summer Olympics in 1996 and Centennial Olympic Park was built for the event. The park hosts a lot of events like concerts and fireworks displays. The fountain of rings and flags are widely recognized features of the park. The location of the park in downtown Atlanta is surrounded by other popular attractions like the Georgia Dome, the CNN Center, Georgia Aquarium, and World of Coca-Cola.
Decatur Square
Decatur Square is located about 8 miles from downtown Atlanta. It’s filled with restaurants and is a great place to walk around or sit and relax. There are a number of specialty shops to browse and is easily accessible by public transportation.
Georgia Aquarium
The world’s largest aquarium can be both a fun and educational activity. Georgia Aquarium is located downtown and was funded mostly by Home Depot co-founder Bernard Marcus. The aquarium offers school events for students of all ages, and booking for special events is also available.
Zoo Atlanta
Another option is Zoo Atlanta, one of the oldest zoos in the United States. Zoo Atlanta is home to the largest collection of gorillas and orangutans in the U.S., and is one of only four U.S. zoos with Giant Pandas. The zoo is located in Grant Park, just minutes from downtown Atlanta.

Piedmont Park
Piedmont Park is a large urban park about one mile from downtown Atlanta. The park includes sports fields, walking paths, bike trails, and a dog park.
