Things to See and Do in Tibet
Tibet is one of the most remote, but also one of the most mystic and intriguing, parts of the world. It is an autonomous region of China, located to the northeast of the Himalayas. Tibet is well known for amazing mountain views and beautiful old temples. Tibet is home to Dalai Lama.

Potala Palace
Potala Palace is the most recognizable temple in Tibet. It was founded in 637 and got today’s shape in 1645. Today it is a museum and World Heritage Site.
Jokhang Temple
Jokhang Temple is located in Lhasa, the administrative capital of Tibet. It is one of the most visited attractions in Larisa and also a World Heritage Site.
Barkhor Street
Barkhor Street is located in the old area of Lhasa, near Jokhang Temple. It is about a kilometer long and has really unique architecture.
Samye Monastery
Samye Monastery is the oldest Buddhist monastery built in Tibet.
Lake Yamdrok
Lake Yamdrok is located about 100 kilometers away for Tibet’s capital, Lhasa. The area surrounding Lake Yamdrok is amazing and really worth seeing.
Sakya Monastery
Sakya monastery is a Buddhist monastery located in southern Tibet. It was founded in 1073. It’s architecture is influenced by Mongolian architecture.
Everest
Mount Everest is the Earth’s highest mountain. It’s located on the border between China and Nepal.
